Name: Ali Tamlit
Pronouns: He/Him
What kinds of workshops do you do?
Facilitation, Direct Action, Strategy, Anti-oppression, burnout, how to handle conflict.
What brought you to facilitation?
I started facilitation when I was doing a masters course that I realised wasn’t for me within the first couple of weeks but was too stubborn to leave. So instead me and some friends ran a self-taught study circle rotating who was facilitating each week. That experience led me to see and feel the value of participatory learning and facilitation.
What groups have you worked with?
Grassroots groups, faith based groups, NGOs, other training collectives.
What is your fave workshop to facilitate?
It depends so much on the group or the questions that I’m currently grappling with personally.
What is your fave workshop tool?
Fishbowls in the right context have been really powerful to participate in and / or facilitate.
A lil' something extra you wanna share?
I’ve been part of grassroots organising in the UK for the last 7 or so years. I lived at Grow Heathrow for a couple of years and was heavily involved in campaigns against expansion at Heathrow (and wider aviation / environmental struggles). I was also part of End Deportations and working to bring in more anti-racism and justice elements to parts of the environmental movement. I now live in the Valleys of South Wales with my partner and our cat Mishka. I like climbing on rocks and listening to a range of music from metalcore to cheesy pop.
